Fred M. Lynn Middle School hosted a Fiesta Night where participants could have dinner together and engage in various games to practice reading and math strategies, including listening, speaking, and writing.

“We hope that the games we provided for both math and reading are easy enough to use at home with friends and family,” Jessica Guerrero, Title I teacher at Fred Lynn Middle, shared.

Inmar Romero, principal at Fred Lynn, said the school strives to foster strong partnerships with parents, creating a collaborative environment that supports the success and well-being of students.

“What we are always trying to accomplish at any event at Fred Lynn is to establish a positive relationship with our families in our communities and showcase some of the strategies that might work to support our kids, not just at school but also at home,” Romero said. “School doesn’t stop at three o’clock when we dismiss. School goes beyond into the living rooms and dining tables of parents.”

At the event, parents and students also had the opportunity to learn about different resources available to them like Varsity Tutoring.

Jocelyn Douglass, a parent at Fred Lynn, attended Fiesta Night with her family and enjoyed playing games together.

“I think events like these are important for kids to see that we are interested in what they are doing in school and what they’re learning, so that we can help and show that we want to be a part of it,” Douglass said. “We don’t expect them to do everything on their own.
