Project Lead the Way (PLTW) has named Battlefield, Charles J. Colgan Sr., Gainesville, and Gar-Field High Schools as 2024-25 PLTW Distinguished Schools. These schools were recognized for their commitment to unlocking student potential through rigorous STEM education.

This recognition properly belongs to our PLTW engineering students, who unfailingly apply themselves to the toughest challenges, and persevere,” shared John Ruf, Project Lead the Way lead teacher at Gar-Field High. “Our students never cease to amaze us by stepping up; they truly are critical thinkers, collaborators, innovators and visionaries.”

The PLTW Distinguished Program Recognition is awarded to schools that demonstrate a strong dedication to increasing student access, engagement, and achievement in PLTW programs. To qualify, schools must offer at least three PLTW High School courses and meet participation benchmarks, including having at least 25% of students enrolled in PLTW courses or ensuring that a significant portion of participants take multiple PLTW courses.

This recognition underscores PWCS’ ongoing efforts to provide high-quality, future-focused education that prepares students for careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

PLTW is a nonprofit organization that empowers millions of students nationwide by equipping them with real-world knowledge and skills essential for success beyond the classroom.
