Associate Superintendent for Teaching and Learning
About Stephanie Soliven, Ed.D.
Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) appointed Dr. Stephanie Soliven as associate superintendent for teaching and learning on September 11, 2023. Soliven oversees the departments of Career and Technical Education, Professional Learning, Student Learning, and Student Opportunity and Multilingual Services. Soliven is focused on expanding student opportunities to include dual enrollment and advanced academic pathways while strengthening supportive structures to ensure success for students who require additional academic support. She champions increased access to high-quality STEM education, ensures strong instructional delivery across classrooms, and prioritizes real-world learning opportunities. Soliven promotes professional learning through instructional coaching and collaborative teams to build educator capacity and sustain continuous improvement.
Soliven joined PWCS from Brevard Public Schools, Florida, (73,000 students) where she most recently served as the assistant superintendent for secondary leading and learning. In this capacity since 2017, as a member of the Superintendent’s cabinet, she provided leadership for the Office of Secondary Leading and Learning to include direct oversight and support for 28 secondary schools, K-12 Acceleration and Enrichment programs (86 schools), Adult and Community Education, Career and Technical Education, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) programming and federal and state grants.
During her career, she has been recognized at the national level as a Milken Foundation educator, completed the rigorous Broad Academy Fellowship program, selected by the state of Florida Assistant Principal of the Year, chosen as an NAACP Unsung Hero, and has been the recipient of leadership awards from local agencies and the University of Central Florida. She currently serves on the Northern Virginia Science Center Advisory Board and the Cambridge University Press & Assessment U.S. Advisory Board.
Soliven received a doctorate in education (curriculum and instruction) from the University of Central Florida, where she also earned her master's and bachelor's degrees.
