School Board Chairman At-Large

About Babur B. Lateef, M.D.

Babur B. Lateef, M.D., was elected Chairman At-Large of the Prince William County School Board on November 6, 2019, after previously serving in an interim capacity following his appointment to fill an unexpired term in April 2018.

Dr. Lateef is a physician and owner of Advanced Ophthalmology Inc., with offices in Woodbridge and Manassas, Virginia. He and his wife, Dr. Tarannum Lateef, are the proud parents of four children. One child currently attends Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS), while three are PWCS graduates who are now attending college.

A dedicated advocate for education and public service, Dr. Lateef formerly served on the Board of Directors of SPARK, the education foundation supporting PWCS. He also served on the University of Virginia Board of Visitors and as Vice Chairman of the University of Virginia Health System Board.

Dr. Lateef earned his undergraduate degree from Youngstown State University and his medical degree from the Northeastern Ohio University College of Medicine. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Rochester School of Medicine. In addition, he has served as an Assistant Clinical Professor at The George Washington University School of Medicine. He is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Education at the University of Virginia.

Through his leadership in medicine, education, and community service, Dr. Lateef brings extensive experience and a strong commitment to serving students, families, and the broader Prince William County community.
