Custodial Services' mission is to provide well-maintained, functional facilities conducive to ensuring a safe, clean, and healthy learning environment for all students, faculty, and administrators of Prince William County Public Schools. Custodial Services supports school administrators in managing the custodial program. Custodial Services adheres to the highest standards in quality assurance.

Custodial Services Teams

Custodial Equipment Repair

The custodial equipment repair shop located at the Independent Hill Complex provides superior repair and maintenance on all indoor custodial equipment to ensure that all Prince William County Public Schools and its administrative and facility buildings run efficiently and effectively.

Our certified technicians in the custodial equipment repair shop are responsible for performing programmable preventative maintenance and repairs on over 4,200 pieces of custodial equipment such as floor scrubbers, high and low speed buffers, carpet extractors, wet-vacs, vacuums, etc.

All new equipment must be purchased through the PWCS Master Agreement and accepted through the Central Receiving Warehouse for processing by the custodial equipment repair shop for assembly and inventory control.

Work Orders - Equipment that necessitates repairs are processed through work orders in an expeditious manner. Work order requests should be electronically forwarded to Facilities Services via the School Dude Maintenance Direct work order system.

Custodial Field Crew

Services

The custodial field crew is an essential branch of custodial services and is based at the Independent Hill Complex. The custodial field crew is highly specialized in a variety of custodial projects and supports all schools and other offices and facilities.

The six-person custodial field crew performs programmable cleaning and restoration such as, but not limited to:

  • Gym Floor Restoration
  • High Cleaning (greater than 18 feet)
  • Cleaning of Newly Renovated Schools and Buildings
  • Cleaning of Newly Constructed Schools and Buildings
  • Thorough Cleaning of Security Residences Upon Vacate

The custodial field crew responds to emergencies such as, but not limited to:

  • Fires
  • Flooding
  • Outside Graffiti Removal
  • Vandalism

Work Orders

Specialized custodial services that require the custodial field crew are processed through work orders in an expeditious manner. Work order requests should be electronically forwarded to Facilities via the School Dude Maintenance Direct work order system.

Quality Assurance

The Quality Assurance Team ensures compliance with Prince William County Public Schools, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and other applicable quality and safety standards throughout all Prince William County Public Schools and its administration, transportation, and facility buildings. The Quality Assurance Team fosters a more efficient and productive learning and work environment for all Prince William County students and its employees.

Services

  • Performs quality assurance evaluations and audits to assess compliance with cleaning standards, and provide technical guidance and direction to cleaning staff.
  • Conducts in-depth custodial maintenance inspections at all schools to ensure the well-being of all Prince William County Public Schools students and staff.
  • Organize, plan and direct in-house training programs for custodial supervisors and custodians.
  • Plan and conduct meetings with custodians to ensure compliance with established practices, to implement policies, and to keep employees abreast of current standards and procedures.
  • Provides personal coaching and hands-on guidance to all custodians to improve skills and quality control.
  • Oversees custodial inventory control and performs annual inventories of custodial supplies and equipment, such as floor scrubbers, buffers, carpet extractors, wet-vacs, vacuums, etc., and evaluates and recommends the purchase of new custodial equipment.
