Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) Superintendent Dr. LaTanya D. McDade recently delivered an update to the School Board on the two-year progress of the PWCS Vision 2025 Launching Thriving Futures Strategic Plan, outlining significant achievements and future goals for the division.
During the update, Dr. McDade highlighted the substantial strides made toward realizing the four key commitments outlined in the Strategic Plan: Learning and Achievement for All, Positive Climate and Culture, Family and Community Engagement, and Organizational Coherence. Notable accomplishments include raising SOL scores, specifically the 17% increase in math and 9% increase in science over the past two years, the 9% increase in students from underrepresented groups accessing advanced classes, and students having earned 12,235 total credentials in CTE courses.
“I am proud of the work that has been accomplished in our schools and in our school division, while acknowledging that there is still work to be done,” shared Dr. McDade. “I am proud to be the Superintendent for Prince William County Public Schools and confident that upon the completion of our Vision 2025 Strategic Plan, we will have much more to celebrate.”
Key highlights of the progress update include improved academic performance across various student subgroups, strategic investment in the future teacher workforce of PWCS, the notable increase in registered business and community partnerships, and the implementation of a robust digital equity program to meet the diverse needs of students.
Looking ahead, Dr. McDade emphasized the importance of remaining stalwart in the pursuit of the Strategic Plan's goals, urging continued assiduity from all stakeholders within the PWCS community.
