Dear PWCS Families, Employees, and Community,
Over my 26 years in education, I have experienced the first days of school in so many roles—student, educator, mother—and I am still left in awe at the excitement, energy, and anticipation the beginning of a new school year brings. This year was no different. The first week of school has been filled with positive energy and enthusiasm for the endless possibilities this new school year will bring.
Bright and early on Monday morning, I welcomed enthusiastic students to the 2024-25 school year at Gainesville High School (watch here). The atmosphere in our schools was electric, and I witnessed that spark throughout the week in all 36 schools I visited. PWCS is united and determined to ensure every student will graduate on time with the knowledge, skills, and habits of mind necessary to create a thriving future for themselves and their community.
I want to thank our amazing teachers, counselors, administrators, and staff for your commitment to excellence for our students and families. With gratitude, I acknowledge the dedicated work of our transportation staff, building security, food and nutrition services staff, nurses, custodial and facilities staff, and the countless family and community volunteers who assisted in the success of this first week and the achievements ahead this school year.
Thank you for a memorable first week of school, enjoy a restful weekend, and we cannot wait to see you for the second week of the 2024-25 school year.
Sincerely,
LaTanya D. McDade, Ed.D.
