Two students from Woodbridge High School made their mark at the National Leadership Conference held this summer in Orlando, Florida. Natnael “Nate” Demelash, a senior at Woodbridge High and Natenim “Nat” Derese, a 2024 graduate of the school, competed in the “Sports and Entertainment Management” and “Marketing” events, respectively.
The journey to the national stage was not an overnight success but a culmination of year-long dedication and competition. Their path to the national competition began at the Germana regional conference, where they secured their spot at the state conference in Williamsburg. Their talents shone with both students receiving first place in their respective competitions, securing their spots at the national conference.
At the national level, Nat and Nate rose to the challenge, emerging as finalists in their events. Nat Derese achieved an impressive eighth place in “Sports and Entertainment Management,” while Nate Demelash secured the sixth spot in “Marketing.” Their achievements were celebrated with trophies and the honor of walking across the stage during the closing ceremony.
The achievements of Nat Derese and Nate Demelash at the National Leadership Conference are a sample of the talent of the students that Woodbridge High and Prince William County Public Schools shape. Their success is more than a personal victory; they are an example for fellow students who can also achieve success.
