Five things to know about specialty programs

Are you thinking about applying for a Prince William County Public Schools specialty program for the 2025-26 school year? Applications for specialty programs open this Friday, November 1.

Here are five things you should know about PWCS specialty programs:

  1. We have 35 unique specialty and CTE programs
    PWCS has 35 unique specialty and career and technical education (CTE) programs that serve students from first grade through adults. Explore specialty programs for elementary, middle, and high school students.
  2. Students can earn college credits and industry certifications
    High school specialty programs provide opportunities to earn college credits or in-demand certifications (some allow students to earn both).
  3. We have express buses to get students to school
    PWCS offers express buses to get students to and from their specialty program.
  4. The deadline to apply to most specialty programs is February 1
    Applications for most specialty programs must be received by 11:59 p.m. on February 1, 2025. The application deadline for the Center for Fine and Performing Arts is December 14, 2024.
  5. Every specialty program holds two family information sessions
    Dates and times for information sessions are available on each program’s webpage, which are linked from the elementary, middle, and high school webpages.
