Dear PWCS Families, Employees, and Community,
This week began the second marking period, where we had much to celebrate and still more to accomplish. Now is a critical time to reset expectations for the next nine weeks. Help us continue to reinforce habits of mind, like regular attendance, health and wellness, and empowering students to seek support and engagement in academics, athletics, and activities.
As a reminder, middle and high school report cards will be mailed on November 13. Elementary school report cards will be posted to ParentVUE no later than November 13. Please be sure to check in on The Hub and with your student(s) and their teacher throughout the year.
I am proud to announce the Virginia Department of Education recognized 13 PWCS schools as 2024 Virginia Purple Star schools, including eight first-time recipients and five renewals. The Purple Star Designation is awarded to military-friendly schools that demonstrate exceptional support for students and families connected to the military. I invite you to read more about which schools are new or have renewed their Virginia Purple Star Designation.
Speaking of military-friendly schools, the Federal Impact Aid Annual Survey is now available in ParentVUE. Through participation, the Impact Aid program financially assists PWCS by providing additional revenue to support the unique needs of our military-connected families. All parents and guardians who are military-connected or work on federal property are encouraged to follow the video instructions and complete the survey in ParentVUE for each PWCS student in your household by November 30.
Monday, November 11, schools and offices will be closed in observance of Veterans Day. Across our county, our schools have honored the bravery and sacrifice of the men and women who have worn the uniform of our armed forces. At Prince William County Public Schools, we thank you for your noble service.
Sincerely,
LaTanya D. McDade, Ed.D.
Superintendent
