The Virginia Music Educators Association (VMEA) has honored Dr. Annamarie Bollino, supervisor of the arts in Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS), with the prestigious Outstanding Administrator Award. This accolade recognizes her exceptional contributions and unwavering dedication to music education.

Dr. Bollino’s dedication to arts education is evident in her words, “Arts education is crucial in shaping well-rounded students, and my work focuses on cultivating an environment that champions innovation, nurtures creativity and cultural expression, and allows artists to flourish. Leading and collaborating with PWCS arts educators is a genuine privilege; they are not only passionate about their craft but also deeply dedicated to their students. Their commitment and professionalism inspire me daily as we continue to elevate our arts education programs.”

Dr. Bollino has served as the president of the VMEA and is currently the president-elect for the Southern Division of the National Association for Music Education. Her leadership extends beyond titles, as she is known for inspiring those around her and making everyone she leads feel seen, heard, and valued.

“We are so fortunate to have Dr. Bollino as part of our team in PWCS,” shared Dr. Ashley Cramp, director of student learning. “She has only been with us about nine months and her passion for the arts, positivity, and unwavering commitment to increasing arts opportunities for students was evident from day one. We are so proud of this achievement, and the recognition for her is certainly well-deserved.”

The award ceremony held recently highlighted Bollino's significant achievements and her impact on the field. She was described as a giant in music education, both in the classroom and in leadership roles. Additionally, Bollino has elevated the recognition of her programs and has worked to secure substantial increases in funding by collaborating with all stakeholders.

“I am honored to be recognized for my leadership. Music and the arts are intricately woven into the very fabric of who I am and how I lead; they have profoundly shaped my identity, and I draw on these deep-rooted passions to ensure that our PWCS students have access to the same enriching opportunities and transformative experiences that have molded me into the person I am today,” expressed Bollino.
