Students at Gainesville and Unity Reed High Schools are fostering a sense of community and acceptance through their Black Student Union (BSU). The BSU aims to create an inclusive environment where students can connect, celebrate diversity, and discuss issues affecting the Black community.

Evan and Skylar, members of the BSU, emphasize the importance of building an inclusive environment. They highlight various activities hosted by the BSU, including monthly meetings, Red Table Talks, social nights, and visits to Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The BSU also mentors elementary school students and organizes a Black History Month assembly.

"The goal of the BSU is to provide a space for both Black and non-Black students to embrace Black culture, empower each other, and take pride in their heritage," said Evan. "The BSU is more than just a club; it's a family that celebrates the past and shapes the future."
