Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) invites students, families, and community members to celebrate Earth Week with an inspiring evening of student-driven environmental action at the first-ever PWCS Student Environmental Action Showcase (SEAS) from 5–7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, at Independence Nontraditional School in Manassas.
In alignment with this year’s Earth Day theme, “Our Power, Our Planet,” this community-wide event spotlights the power of young people to shape a more sustainable future through innovation, creativity, and collaboration. The SEAS event will feature more than 90 student projects developed by over 275 PWCS students and will include expo tables hosted by more than 30 environmental sustainability community partners. These projects represent the outstanding work of individual students, classes, and clubs across all grade levels, from pre-K through high school.
This family-friendly celebration of environmental learning and leadership is open to all. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore projects led by students that tackle real-world challenges, including energy conservation, water quality, waste reduction, and habitat preservation through science, action, art, and education.
Attendees will also enjoy hands-on activities designed by local partners that promote environmental literacy and introduce career pathways in sustainability and the green economy. Projects will be evaluated by a panel of judges, and the evening will conclude with an awards ceremony at 7 p.m. honoring students’ ingenuity, commitment, and impact.
SEAS highlights PWCS students as visionary leaders and global collaborators, demonstrating how local action can drive environmental stewardship at every level.
Attendees are encouraged to utilize the free 5-minute shuttle bus ride from the Kelly Leadership Center parking lot to Independence Nontraditional school. The shuttle will run from 3-8 p.m.
