Four PWCS counseling programs earn RAMP designation

The American School Counselor Association (ASCA) has recognized Forest Park High School, Parkside and Reagan Middle Schools, and Porter Traditional School, as four of the 190 schools nationwide to receive the 2025 Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) designation. With this award, the ASCA recognizes schools that are committed to delivering a comprehensive, data-informed school counseling program and a top-notch educational environment.

"The ASCA RAMP designation means that counselors have collaborated with educational partners to plan, deliver, and evaluate a data-driven, comprehensive school counseling program of excellence," shared Anne Henry, PWCS supervisor of elementary school counseling and related services. "In Prince William County Public Schools, we encourage the journey to a RAMP designation, as it truly benefits our school communities."

The RAMP designation is good for five years, after which schools must reapply to maintain their RAMP status. Forest Park High earned Re-RAMP status with this year's honor.

"By repeatedly engaging in the RAMP application process, the Forest Park counseling team has demonstrated a commitment to the continuous improvement of their school counseling program for well over a decade," explained Henry. "Year after year, they've examined their data and designed interventions to meet the needs of their students."

Jill Cook, ASCA executive director, commended this year's RAMP honorees stating, "This year’s RAMP honorees have shown their commitment to students and the school counseling profession. These schools use data to drive their program development and implementation so all students can achieve success. RAMP designation distinguishes these schools and encourages school counselors nationwide to strive for excellence. "

The 2025 RAMP schools will be honored during a special ceremony at the ASCA’s Annual Conference being held in Long Beach, California in July.
