Dear PWCS Families, Employees, and Community,

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!

I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the extraordinary educators in Prince William County Public Schools. Your unwavering dedication, creativity, and compassion shape the future of our students every single day. You are mentors, advocates, coaches, role models—and you ignite curiosity, build confidence, and inspire lifelong learning. On behalf of the entire PWCS community, thank you for helping our students create a thriving future for themselves and their community.

We are also so proud of the incredible effort our students have shown throughout the beginning of the testing season. Your focus and determination have not gone unnoticed. Thank you for continuing to stay motivated and showing up ready to learn each day. We wish you the very best of luck on your upcoming assessments, certifications, and exams. Your hard work is paving the way for a bright future.

Congratulations to our Battlefield students on an incredible showing at the annual Model Judiciary Program Supreme Court Round at the Supreme Court of Virginia in Richmond. The team of senior Anandya Sampath and sophomore Sakshi Gowda won their round and the overall state competition. This marks our division’s third straight year winning the competition—a true “three-peat.” Read more about our students’ success at the Virginia Supreme Court.

In celebration of National Physical Fitness and Sports Month, I am excited to share that the Southeast Region American Driver and Traffic Safety Education Association has recognized Amy Dignan, a health and physical education teacher at Patriot High School, with the 2025 Teacher of Excellence Award. We are so proud of Ms. Dignan and all our teachers. I invite you to read more about her amazing accomplishment.

PWCS will recognize our dedicated retirees during the 2025 retirement ceremony from 7 p.m.-8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, at the Hylton Performing Arts Center. The ceremony will be broadcast on PWCS’ Facebook page and PWCS’ YouTube channel. The ceremony is broadcast to allow maximum participation of retirees from throughout the past year, and their families, including those who may have moved from the area. I encourage you to tune in and join our celebration.

It is hiring season in PWCS, and we are actively recruiting for current vacancies, including teacher, school counselor, and librarian roles for next school year. Join us from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, for an in-person job fair and please refer your family, friends, and recent graduates to apply, or consider applying yourself—you belong here!

Happy Mother’s Day to all PWCS mothers and mother figures. Have a restful and enjoyable weekend.

Sincerely,
Dr. McDade signature
