Superintendent celebrates PWCS' superpower, National Merit semifinalists, more

Dear PWCS Families, Employees, and Community,

I begin this letter celebrating the announcement from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which has named six PWCS high school students as semifinalists. Congratulations to Luke Davis and Alexander Gushi (Battlefield), Rebecca Clark (Hylton), Julienne Lim (Colgan), Benjamin Fu (Gainesville), and Luke Pomfret (Patriot). I invite you to read more about our semifinalists on our website. While on our website, please note the graduation dates for the class of 2026 and mark your calendar.

We also honor National Arts in Education Week, a time to recognize how the arts expand student learning, strengthen creativity, and enrich school communities. From band performances to theater productions to visual arts exhibits, I am always moved by the talent and dedication of our student artists and the educators who nurture their gifts.

This week, PWCS shared a survey link with stakeholders to offer feedback on the new strategic plan—Vision 2030. Vision 2030 sets out our strategic direction for the next four years and will guide every decision as we prepare students for graduation and their futures. We value your perspective and invite you to complete the survey so everyone’s voice in Prince William County can be included.

Looking ahead, next week is National Security Officer Appreciation Week. We are deeply grateful for the PWCS security officers who help protect our students, staff, and families each day. Their service ensures that our schools remain safe and welcoming places to learn and grow.

Beginning September 15, PWCS will join the nation in celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs through October 15. This month provides us with a wonderful chance to honor the history, culture, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans. I encourage you to look for upcoming news and celebrations from across our division as we learn from and uplift the voices of our Hispanic community.

Our diversity is our superpower, and together we are building a thriving future for every student in PWCS. Thank you for your continued partnership in fostering a positive climate and culture in our schools.

Sincerely,
