Collage of career and technical education students -- including automotive, television production, and carpentry

Dear PWCS Families, Employees, and Community,

As we begin September, I am excited to share several important updates and opportunities with you. September is National Workforce Development Month, a reminder of our responsibility to prepare every student for success after graduation—whether through employment, enlistment, or enrollment. At PWCS, this work is ongoing through our Career and Technical Education programs, apprenticeships, and the new 3E Readiness Framework. Together with our business and community partners, we are building pathways that connect classroom learning to real-world careers.

In support of our commitment to academic excellence and student success, I want to highlight additional resources and upcoming events that will help families stay engaged and informed throughout the school year. I encourage our families and students to access Varsity Tutors, an online resource offering live tutoring, self-paced courses, and enrichment opportunities. Please explore how your student can access this free support designed to ensure students have the tools they need to thrive academically.

Our Parent Engagement Series continues next week with a webinar on “PSAT and SAT Prep with Khan Academy,” scheduled from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9. I encourage families of middle and high school students to attend and learn how this powerful resource can support their child’s college and career readiness journey.

This school year will also mark the launch of our Vision 2030 Strategic Plan. This plan builds on the success of ourPWCS Vision 2025 Launching Thriving Futures Strategic Plan. I will share progress updates on our 2025 Strategic Plan later this fall.

Vision 2030 sets our course for the next four years, emphasizing global competency, personalized and adaptive learning, and empowering educators. Our four-year strategic plan will guide every decision we make as we prepare our students not only for graduation, but for the rapidly changing world beyond.

PWCS will be releasing a survey next week to give our stakeholders the opportunity to provide feedback on the new strategic plan. I hope you will take the time to respond with your experience, as we value every voice in Prince William County.

Finally, as we approach Patriot Day on September 11, we pause to honor the lives lost, the heroes who responded, and the resilience of our nation. It is a time for reflection and for teaching our students the values of unity, service, and remembrance.

Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to create thriving futures for all students.

Sincerely,
