PWCS students attending Summer Residential Governor’s Schools

Several PWCS students attended the 2025 Governor’s School Summer Residential Governor’s Schools, which provide high school juniors and seniors with intensive educational experiences across several disciplines.

Through this program, students live on a college or university campus for up to four weeks each summer. Throughout their stay, students participate in classroom and laboratory work, field studies, research, both individual and group projects, and more.

Prerna Ramkumar, a senior at Battlefield High School, attended the Summer Residential Governor's School (SRGS) for Visual and Performing Arts at Radford University and shared that it was one of the “best summers ever."

"I attended SRGS for Visual and Performing Arts (my specific discipline was visual arts) at Radford University, and while this program helped me hone my skills and exposed me to unfamiliar art mediums, I would say that the most valuable aspect of this program was the friends I made and the talented people I was able to connect with. From the ice cream social on the first day of SRGS to the fall spooktacular party, we were able to engage in various activities together that deepened our bonds. I was able to meet people who shared the same intense passion I have for art, and we were inspired and learned from one another. My experience at SRGS was unforgettable and I will forever cherish the memories I made there,” Ramkumar explained.
