Collage of high school students in specialty program classes

Dear PWCS Families, Employees, and Community,

Congratulations to all PWCS students in grades 9-11 on participating in our divisionwide administration of the PSAT. Thank you to our administrators, testing coordinators, counselors, technology teams, and teachers for the logistics that make this important opportunity possible for our students.

Speaking of participation, today is the last chance to complete the annual calendar survey. Important dates for consideration are the first day of school, winter and spring breaks, and the last day of school. Please share your voice in helping us shape the 2026-27 school calendar.

The first quarter will close on October 31. Please be sure to check in on ParentVUE and with your student(s) and their teacher for updates on academic progress, emotional wellness, and current attendance.

While on our website, please note that the applications for our more than 35 specialty programs will open in early November. In preparation, PWCS hosts three Family Engagement Series webinars in October to help families learn about specialty programs by grade level. Families can join or review any of the following sessions to explore available options:

October 23, 2025, 6:30 p.m. – Middle School Specialty Programs
October 28, 2025, 6 p.m. – High School Specialty Programs
Will be available for review – Elementary School Specialty Programs

Additionally, PWCS has partnered with Hanover Research to conduct a survey to gather input from staff, students, and parents regarding our specialty programs. Results from this survey will be used to better understand strengths and areas of improvement. We encourage you to share your thoughts and experiences. Your responses will be anonymous and kept confidential. Please complete the Specialty Programs Survey between Monday, October 20, and Friday, October 31.

Next week, PWCS celebrates America’s Safe Schools Week and National School Bus Safety Week, a reminder for our community to prioritize the safety and security around school campuses and buses. Reinforcing safety protocols and practices ensures our students are confident in their ability to learn, explore, and thrive in a secure environment where they know the adults around them are prepared, attentive, and committed to their well-being. Thank you to our entire staff who deliver on our commitment to a positive climate and culture.

As a reminder, schools and offices will be closed on Tuesday, October 21, in observance of Diwali. Have a wonderful weekend.

Sincerely,
