Tim Vaughan named 2025 National PLTW Administrator of the Year

Project Lead The Way (PLTW) has recognized Tim Vaughan, administrative coordinator for career and technical education (CTE), as the 2025 National PLTW Administrator of the Year. This recognition celebrates Vaughan's exceptional dedication to student achievement and his transformative impact on the school community.

“Tim’s passion for fostering a culture of excellence makes him truly deserving of the PLTW Administrator of the Year award,” said Dr. Sarah Martin, director of CTE.

Reflecting on this achievement, Vaughan shared, “This recognition is not just a personal achievement—it’s a tribute to the amazing work happening in the PWCS CTE Department, a celebration of our dedicated PLTW teachers and the innovative, inquisitive students who inspire us every day.”

Vaughan’s deep commitment to equitable CTE instruction ensures that every student, from middle to high school, has access to high-quality learning experiences. “As a result, teachers have the time and space to focus on our most critical commitment: learning and achievement for all students,” noted Christine Good, supervisor of CTE.

Originally from Ireland, Vaughan began his career teaching engineering and technical drawing in Dublin before moving to Virginia, where he spent nearly two decades inspiring students in the classroom. His expertise and leadership have earned him numerous accolades over more than 30 years of experience.

Vaughan is in his third year as coordinator and has elevated CTE at PWCS by setting high standards and cultivating robust industry partnerships. Vaughan is currently planning PLTW Capstone Week, coordinating with PWCS central office staff and CTE business partners to provide an authentic audience of high school engineering teachers. Students will present their design concepts and receive feedback.
