
The Virginia Art Education Association (VAEA) has honored Dr. Annamarie Bollino, supervisor of visual and performing arts, with the 2025 VAEA Supervision and Administration Art Educator of the Year award. This prestigious award spotlights an exceptional visual arts administrator for distinguished service and achievement of state and national importance.
“The arts play a vital role in our schools—strengthening belonging, advancing achievement, and connecting students to real pathways for a thriving future. Being named the Virginia Art Education Association Supervision and Administration Art Educator of the Year is an incredible honor that reflects not only my work, but the collective excellence and dedication of our teachers, students, and community,” shared Dr. Bollino.
“As a leader in arts education in PWCS and across Virginia, I am committed to ensuring every student has access to transformative, high-quality artistic experiences that shape creativity, confidence, critical thinking, and lifelong learning,” she added.
Dr. Bollino’s impact is evident through her leadership with the Virginia Coalition for Fine Arts Education and contributions to the Virginia Arts Education Data Project, the Virginia Department of Education, and the Virginia Commission for the Arts.
Dr. Ashley Cramp, director of student learning, shared, “We are fortunate to have Dr. Bollino on our team in student learning at PWCS. Her passion for the arts is contagious, and she is committed to continuous improvement in both experiences and opportunities for our students. Each day she [makes] positive impacts [on] students, teachers, colleagues, and leaders. We are so proud of Dr. Bollino.”
Beginning her career in music education, Dr. Bollino served as president of the Virginia Music Educators Association and contributed significant research to the field. Later, she broadened her expertise by earning a visual arts endorsement on her teaching license. She regularly presents at the VAEA Conference, sharing strategies that elevate arts education for all learners.
