The Prince William County Human Rights Commission, in collaboration with Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS), has announced the selection of the 2025-26 Human Rights Student Leadership Council (HRSLC) – Cohort 10.  

Students from PWCS, private schools, home instruction programs, and Manassas have been chosen to join the council, with six PWCS students designated as Human Rights Student Leadership Council ambassadors. These ambassadors are previous HRSLC members who will mentor and support new council members throughout the school year. 

The HRSLC is dedicated to fostering leadership skills in young people and encouraging open conversations about diversity, understanding, and the value of differences among students. Council members receive education on human and civil rights laws, empowering them to know how to protect and advocate for their rights.  

The program aims to prepare students for future leadership positions and equip them to become responsible employees, tenants, and consumers. This year’s theme, “Inspiring Change, Creating Impact,” reflects the Council’s commitment not only to learning about leadership, but actively applying it by seeking ways to improve their schools, classrooms, and communities.
