Four athletes with ties to Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) are preparing to represent Team USA at the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Italy. Leading the roster are Brentsville District High School graduate Mystique Ro and Battlefield High School graduate Evan Nichols.

Battlefield High graduate Sarah Everhardt will also join Team USA as an alternate for U.S. Figure Skating. Additionally, U.S. figure skating standout Ilia Malinin attended Penn Elementary School through fifth grade.

Ro will compete in women’s skeleton. At the 2025 FIL World Championships, she became the first American in 12 years to medal in the event, winning silver. She then went on to capture gold in the mixed team skeleton competition, a new event debuting at the Milan-Cortina Games.

For the second consecutive Paralympic Winter Games, Nichols will compete as part of the U.S. Paralympic Sled Hockey Team. Nichols earned a gold medal at the 2022 Beijing Paralympics, where he made his national team debut at just 17. His achievements also include three world championship medals—two gold and one silver.

The Olympic Winter Games will be held February 6–22, followed by the Paralympic Winter Games from March 6–15.
