On February 4, the Prince William County School Board unanimously adopted the PWCS Elevate 2030 Strategic Plan, launching a new chapter for student success across the school division.

Building on the momentum of Vision 2025, Elevate 2030 sets a bold, future-focused direction that expands opportunities, accelerates innovation, and strengthens support for every learner.

“Elevate 2030 is not just a strategic plan—it is a shared promise to our students and our community,” said Superintendent Dr. LaTanya D. McDade. “It reflects who we are, what we value, and where we are going together. This plan challenges us to think boldly, act intentionally, and remain focused on creating meaningful, lasting impact for every learner.”

“Elevate 2030, our new strategic plan, is aspirational, ambitious, and aggressive,” said Dr. Babur Lateef, School Board Chairman At-Large. “It will further develop, building on the success of our last plan, a school system dedicated to the full realization of each student’s potential. It is also historic because we are committed to implementing a universal pre-K program for every 4-year-old in Prince William County.”

As PWCS moves into this next chapter, Elevate 2030 introduces initiatives that will expand opportunities for students and families, including:

  • Universal preschool access for every 4-year-old by 2030, giving all children a strong start and a clear, high-quality early learning pathway.
  • Strengthened college‑ and career‑ready pathways, including enhanced dual enrollment, and industry‑aligned credentials that allow students to earn college credit and professional certifications before graduation.
  • Expanded access to advanced coursework and enrichment, increasing opportunities for students, especially underrepresented, to participate in Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, dual enrollment, and other accelerated programs.
  • Career exploration and entrepreneurship experiences beginning in elementary school and expanding through middle and high school—complete with internships, job shadowing, and school-based enterprises.
  • Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality technology in every school, bringing immersive, real-world learning experiences to all students.
  • A mentorship network connecting students with more than 150 community and business mentors for college and career support.
  • Outdoor learning environments at every PWCS school, creating hands-on learning opportunities for all students.
  • Mobile science labs, expanded robotics, and strengthened STEM programming across the division.
  • Three school-based health clinics, increasing access to essential health services for students and families.
  • Continued growth of school-based food pantries and wraparound services to meet the diverse needs of students and families.

The plan was shaped by extensive input from students, families, educators, staff, and community partners. Through surveys, listening sessions, and engagement opportunities, PWCS invited voices from across the community to help define priorities, goals, and strategies for the next phase of the division’s growth. This collaborative process ensured that the plan reflects both community aspirations and the realities of a complex and evolving educational landscape.

With Elevate 2030 now officially adopted, PWCS leaders, educators, families, and community partners are poised to begin implementation together, guided by a shared sense of purpose and accountability. The division will provide regular updates and progress reports to ensure transparency and continued community involvement as the plan moves from vision to action.
