The Osbourn Park High School girls’ basketball team won their second straight Virginia High School League Class 6 Championship with a 48-42 win over Manchester High School.
This win cemented the program as the first in Prince William County Public Schools history to win back-to-back state titles in girls’ basketball.
Led by senior Keyarah Rainey, who scored 24 points, the Yellow Jackets seized control early, storming out to a 16–2 first quarter lead and never relinquishing it.
Rainey reflected on her time with the program, describing the family atmosphere that was created.
“This whole team, it's my last year with them and they are family to me,” Rainey said. “My teammates are like sisters and Coach (Chrissy) Kelly is like a mom to me. It was important to finish this season off strong like we wanted to.”
Head coach Chrissy Kelly was proud of the team’s resilience, especially after losing two players to injuries this season.
“They trusted in who they are because at the end of the day, it wasn’t about what I do as a coach, but what they are going to do as a team,” Kelly said. “They are a phenomenal group of young women that I am very fortunate and privileged to coach.”
Behind a dominant performance, unwavering resilience, and a culture built on trust and family, the Yellow Jackets proved once again what is possible when talent, perseverance, and unity come together on the biggest stage.
