Visitors gather in a gallery space during an art show, with framed student artwork displayed along brick walls.Students from across Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) showcased their artwork at the 14th annual PWCS Exhibition, held at the Hylton Performing Arts Center. The exhibit showcased pieces from 31 students representing 31 different schools, highlighting the creativity and talent of learners of all ages.

“This annual show is particularly meaningful as it showcases the artwork of students at all levels (K-12) from all parts of the district at one time,” shared Andrew Watson, coordinator of visual arts in PWCS.  “It is also important because it gives our students’ work the chance to be seen by thousands of people in a professional arts setting.”

For the students selected, seeing their work displayed alongside peers from across the division was both exciting and affirming. Many shared that the experience left a lasting impression.

"It was really cool and I thought it was a good experience,” shared Charlotte Wisor, a fourth grader from Gravely Elementary School.

Ameera Noor, an eighth-grade student at Gainesville Middle School, enjoyed not only seeing her own artwork on display but also viewing the work of older students.

"When I went to the Hylton Performing Arts, I thought it was really cool that there were displays of student art,” Noor said. “I really enjoyed seeing the high school art.”

For high school students, the exhibition offered a moment of pride and recognition for years of creative growth.

"Seeing my work displayed to the public at the Hylton Performing Arts Center was an honor. Being chosen to represent my school was an amazing memory I won’t forget. My friends and family came along to view my work. The experience I had was comforting as I was surrounded by loved ones who were able to celebrate this achievement with me,” explained Alex Nguyen, a junior at Charles J. Colgan Sr. High School.

The annual exhibition continues to provide students with an opportunity to share their voices through art, connect with the wider community, and see themselves as artists in a professional space.
