The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation has named PWCS one of the Best Communities for Music Education for the seventh consecutive year, recognizing the division’s continued commitment to expanding access to music education for all students.

“Being named a NAMM Best Community for Music Education for the seventh consecutive year reflects Prince William County Public Schools’ deep and sustained commitment to the arts,” said Dr. Annamarie Bollino, supervisor of the arts for PWCS. “This recognition affirms the collective work of our music educators, school leaders, students, and families who believe in the power of music education to support creativity, collaboration, and academic growth. In PWCS, music learning opens doors for students to express themselves, connect with others, and discover their voices—both on and off the stage.”

PWCS offers a wide array of courses including band, choir, general music, guitar, marching band, musical theatre, music theory, music technology, orchestra, piano, and ukulele. These courses engage approximately 58,000 students across the division.

To earn this distinction, PWCS completed a comprehensive review examining key areas such as funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instructional time, facilities, and support for the music program and community music-making programs. Responses were verified by school officials and organized by WolfBrown, a national independent research firm specializing in education and the arts.

“This award celebrates the unwavering dedication of schools and districts that make music education a priority for every student,” said Julia Rubio, executive director of The NAMM Foundation. “At The NAMM Foundation, we believe access to quality music programs is essential, and we are honored to highlight the educators and communities leading this important work.”

For nearly three decades, The NAMM Foundation has applauded school districts across the nation through its Best Communities for Music Education designation, honoring those that keep music at the heart of a well-rounded education. This prestigious recognition celebrates communities where music education isn’t just an extracurricular—it’s a core part of student success.
