This prestigious recognition is granted to statewide administrators, directors, and school counselors who have made outstanding contributions to support the counseling profession. Recipients are recognized based on their successful implementation of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model, use of data-driven practices, and leadership in delivering comprehensive counseling programs.

“I am honored to be recognized by the Virginia School Counselor Association with this leadership award. For the past six years, it has been a privilege to support outstanding elementary school counselors as they serve the students of Prince William County. I am grateful for the professional community in VSCA and PWCS, and I am proud to continue this work,” Henry shared.

Dr. Darrell Sampson, associate superintendent of student services and post-secondary success, reflected on Henry’s achievement.

“[Henry] works tirelessly to support not only elementary counselors, but school counseling divisionwide, using her strong relationship and strategic skills to ensure that all students receive quality services across the division. She is also instrumental in the support of schools achieving recognized ASCA Model Program status, including this year when a record number of Prince William County Public Schools received this designation. This recognition reflects her abilities to lead change at a systems level in support of student achievement.”

Henry began her career in PWCS as an elementary school teacher before transitioning into school counseling. In her current role, she remains committed to strengthening the school counseling profession and ensuring students have access to comprehensive, high-quality programs.

She earned her master’s degree and administrative certificate from George Mason University and currently serves on the university’s counseling advisory board. Henry has demonstrated sustained professional service in the counseling field through her involvement with organizations such as the Virginia School Counselor Association, Virginia Counselors Association, and the American School Counselor Association.

Henry will be honored during a special luncheon at the 2026 VSCA Annual Conference: Navigating the Waves of Innovation, taking place October 2026.
