At its June 3, 2026 meeting, the Prince William County School Board unanimously approved Woodbridge Elementary School as the name of the division’s newest elementary school.
Located at 1550 Prince William Parkway in Woodbridge, the school is scheduled to open in August 2026 and will help reduce overcrowding in the Route 1 corridor.
Woodbridge Magisterial District School Board Member Loree Williams, who served on the naming committee and represents the community where the school is located, shared her appreciation for the support received.
“I want to thank division staff and everyone in the community who participated in this process. It has been truly remarkable to see such strong citizen engagement, reflecting the connection we share. To the Potomac View students I had the opportunity to speak with, thank you for spending your time with me, and thank you for sharing your opinion. It is an honor to not only be naming a new school but also opening an elementary school in my district.”
Brooke LeVecchi, principal of the new school, described the vision guiding its opening.
“The naming of Woodbridge Elementary School represents more than the opening of a new school, it marks the beginning of a community intentionally built on purpose, possibility, and belonging. Through a design-thinking mindset, we will inspire students to be curious learners, empathetic problem-solvers, and creative innovators who seek to understand the perspectives of others and develop solutions that make a meaningful difference,” said LeVecchi. “As we begin this journey together, we look forward to building a school community where we rise by learning, leading, inclusive practices and growing together. Woodbridge Elementary, “Together We Rise!”
