Students with awards

Three high school students from Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) secured gold medals at the 5th Annual Prince William Area (PWA) NAACP Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological, and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO). These students will represent PWCS on the national stage at the 117th NAACP National Convention in Chicago this July. 

Congratulations to the following students: 

  • Michelle Marfo (senior, Osbourn Park High School) – Mathematics 
  • Corbyn Person (junior, Charles J. Colgan Sr. High School) – Music Instrumental Contemporary 
  • Gabriel Hamilton (junior, Osbourn Park High School) – Original Essay 

In addition to the gold medalists, the PWA NAACP recognized eight silver and four bronze medal winners for their exceptional performances:  

Silver Medalists: 

  • Melinisis Diop (junior, Woodbridge High School) – Drawing and Painting  
  • Kamani Sellers (junior, Gar-Field High School) – Short Story  
  • Kartyr Mainor (freshman, Charles J. Colgan Sr. High School) – Dramatics

  • Samuel Laing (junior, Charles J. Colgan Sr. High School) – Music Instrumental Contemporary  
  • Nathaniel Myers (sophomore, Forest Park High School) – Music Instrumental Classical  
  • Reinalynn Patton (sophomore, Forest Park High School) – Original Essay
