Collage of students in career and technical education and specialty programs

Dear PWCS Families, Employees, and Community,

As students explore interests, choose academic pathways, and prepare for high school, PWCS is committed to helping families navigate the opportunities ahead. For students preparing for college, understanding financial aid is an important part of that planning. I encourage families to explore our Student Financial Aid resources for information on scholarships, grants, and other options that can make postsecondary education more affordable.

Families interested in college financial aid can learn more during the upcoming Family Engagement Series webinar, Paying for College – Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the Virginia Alternative State Aid (VASA), from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6. Participants will learn FAFSA and VASA basics, explore Virginia grants and scholarships, and review steps to access financial aid.

In October, PWCS will offer three Family Engagement Series sessions on elementary, middle, and high school specialty programs. Each session will cover available programs, the application process, deadlines, and resources to help families make informed decisions.

Elementary school families are invited to the elementary school specialty programs session from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 15. Middle school families can attend the middle school specialty programs session from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, and high school families can join the high school specialty programs session from 6-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27.

These opportunities help students explore their interests, plan their next steps, and prepare for the future. Thank you for continuing to partner with us as we support every student in discovering possibilities and pursuing their goals.

Sincerely,
