Collage of high school students participating in specialty programs

Dear PWCS Families, Employees, and Community,

It’s an exciting time of year as applications for PWCS Specialty Programs open Monday, November 2. Our diverse and robust specialty programs give students the chance to explore their passions, imagine what their futures could hold, develop skills for trades and technical fields, and take rigorous college-level courses.

I encourage you to explore the Specialty Programs webpage to discover this year’s new program offerings, familiarize yourself with the application process, and find information about upcoming sessions, transportation, and other resources to help your family make an informed decision.

Our commitment to creating meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities through specialty programs was demonstrated this week as we celebrated the opening of the new Turf Research Center at Brentsville District High School. This facility gives students opportunities to conduct research, learn alongside college professors and industry experts, and gain hands-on experience that connects the classroom with in-demand careers.

I want to recognize Brentsville District High School for continuing to push the boundaries of what is possible for our students. Their innovation has helped blaze a trail not only for PWCS, but also nationally, creating the first program of its kind in the country. As I shared at the celebration, this is education without boundaries.

Finally, October 23-31 is Red Ribbon Week. This year’s theme, “Make a Difference. Be a Hero. Stay Drug Free,” reminds us that healthy choices can positively influence our friends, families, and communities.

As we enter the final week of the first quarter, thank you for your continued support of our school communities. Have an enjoyable weekend.

Sincerely,
