Help shape the 2027-28 PWCS school calendar
Prince William County Public Schools is seeking input from families, staff, students, and community members as we develop the 2027-28 school calendar. The annual calendar survey gives our community an opportunity to weigh in on the schedule and priorities that shape the school year.
The survey is available now through Friday, October 16.
The proposed calendar options reflect feedback gathered from parents, teachers, principals, support staff, and central office leaders through committee meetings and other opportunities to share input. That input helped shape options that balance instructional priorities, family needs, staff planning, and the needs of our diverse community.
Survey feedback will be shared with the School Board for review in November. The School Board is expected to consider and approve the 2027-28 school calendar at its meeting on December 2.

How the Calendar Options Were Developed
In August and September, PWCS convened a calendar committee to identify priorities for the 2027–28 instructional calendar.
This effort brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, ensuring that voices from all corners of the PWCS community were heard.

- School principals
- Students
The collaborative process included multiple in-person and virtual calendar committee meetings, and presentations to the Superintendent’s Advisory Council on Instruction and Superintendent’s Principal Advisory Council.
More than 150 PWCS community members were invited to identify calendar priorities and provide feedback on the proposed options.
Each of the school calendar options reflects:
- The division's commitment to learning and achievement for all students and a positive climate and culture for our entire community
- The collective voices and perspectives of parents, students, and staff
- Requirements from the Virginia Department of Education
