Dear PWCS Families, Employees, and Community,
Congratulations to T. Clay Wood Elementary School for being named a National Blue Ribbon School. This prestigious recognition reflects the dedication of the entire school community who strive for excellence every day. I invite you to read more about T. Clay Wood’s impressive honor.
PWCS is excited to invite all students to attend one of two upcoming college fairs: Hylton High School on October 9 from 6-8 p.m. and Osbourn Park High School on October 17 from 6-8 p.m. These college fairs are a fantastic opportunity to explore a variety of colleges and universities, meet admission representatives, and gather valuable information to help your child make informed decisions about their future.
Attending the college fair is just one step in the broader journey of academic and career planning. As you help your child explore options for their thriving future, it is important to think about both the goal and how to get there.
PWCS is committed to providing the resources and guidance students need to develop a clear plan for academic and career goals. Virginia Education Wizard is the platform utilized by PWCS elementary students to explore careers and the Naviance platform is available to all middle and high school students to complete self-discovery assessments, post-high school planning, career exploration and college searching.
Additionally, PWCS offers personalized, electronic Student Vision Profiles available to all students and families in grades 6-12. These profiles are designed to support postsecondary planning conversations at home and to engage families in the essential steps students take toward launching a successful future. All reports will be accessible to students/families via an active ParentVUE account.
Whether we are providing postsecondary planning, course selections, dual and certification enrollment, internships, or mentorship opportunities, PWCS is here to help navigate the path ahead, ensuring every student graduates on time with the knowledge, skills, and habits of mind necessary to create a thriving future for themselves and their community.
As a reminder, all PWCS buildings and offices are closed Thursday, October 3, in observance of Rosh Hashanah. We look forward to four full days of learning and engagement next week.
Sincerely,
LaTanya D. McDade, Ed.D.
