Dear PWCS Families, Employees, and Community,
It is hard to believe that we are just days away from welcoming our students back for the first day of school on Monday, August 18.
This week, we officially welcomed all teachers back to their buildings. It was inspiring to see their commitment and enthusiasm as they prepared lesson plans, set up classrooms, and engaged in professional learning designed to enhance instruction and support student success.
If you have not yet completed the Annual Back to School Packet in ParentVUE, please do so as soon as possible. Once completed, parents and families can view their child’s class and bus schedules. The packet includes essential updates such as emergency contacts, transportation needs, and health information. These details help us keep your child safe and supported throughout the school year.
In the past week, bus drivers and transportation staff have conducted test runs to verify that routes are correct and efficient. Families can confirm bus stops and schedules through ParentVUE. We thank you in advance for your patience during the first week of school, as pick-up and drop-off times could differ as routines are being established. It is recommended that families download the EZ A2B app before school starts to track their child’s bus in real-time.
As a reminder, all PWCS schools will follow the new cell phone policy for the 2025-26 school year. The policy requires that all cell phones and personal electronic communication devices must be turned off and stored away during the bell-to-bell school day, as well as during any instructional periods, regardless of location, including field trips. I encourage you to review the new policy and take a few moments to discuss it with your child before the first day of school.
In maintaining our commitment to authentic engagement, you can expect frequent communication from the division and schools throughout the school year by emails and texts sent through SchoolStatus. Look for information from your school and teachers regarding their plan to communicate with you. We will share additional communications via the 5 to Thrive newsletter, and on PWCS’ official social media channels (PWCS Facebook, PWCS Instagram, PWCS YouTube).
As we open the 2025-26 school year on Monday, I am reminded of the incredible dedication and collaboration that define our PWCS community. Whether you are a student, family member, educator, or support staff member, your role is essential in creating a positive climate and culture where every student can thrive. Together, let’s make this school year one of excellence, growth, and opportunity.
Sincerely,

LaTanya D. McDade, Ed.D.
