Teacher engaging with elementary school students learning to use iPads

Dear PWCS Families, Employees, and Community,

Earlier this week, the Prince William County School Board approved Option A as the 2026-27 school calendar. The calendar options were shaped by input from parents, teachers, principals, support staff, central office leaders, and community partners who participated in the various stakeholder committees and feedback opportunities. I appreciate the efforts of our calendar committee, as well as everyone who provided their feedback.

As we look ahead to upcoming opportunities and events within our school community, I want to share several important updates and resources available to our families. Families of student-athletes are encouraged to participate in a NCAA eligibility information session from 6:30–7:30 p.m., on December 9. Understanding college athletic requirements early is essential, and this session will help families prepare for the next steps. Additionally, from 6:30–7:30 p.m., on December 16, families can learn about the PWCS gifted identification and services process, which provides clarity on how gifted services work and how we support students with advanced learning needs across the division.

Next week, we celebrate National Inclusive Schools Week, honoring the work our schools do each day to ensure every student feels seen, supported, and valued. As we reflect on the importance of belonging, I also encourage our community to consider giving during this holiday season. Many of our schools operate food pantries that also provide clothing, toys, books, and other essential items to families in need. To learn how you can offer support, please reach out to your school’s parent liaison.

Thank you for your continued partnership and commitment to our students.

Sincerely,
