Dear PWCS Families, Employees, and Community,
As we close out this week, once again, I wish to acknowledge the staff and community members who worked so hard to prepare PWCS, and the surrounding area, for a return to in-person learning following the inclement weather event. PWCS plans for an on-time arrival next week. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we navigated the recent weather challenges.
This week marks an important milestone for our school division as the School Board unanimously approved the PWCS Elevate 2030 Strategic Plan, setting a clear, shared direction for where we are going and how we will get there together. I am grateful to the Board, the PWCS team, and the entire community for their passion, collaboration, and voices.
At the School Board meeting on Wednesday, I presented the Superintendent’s Proposed Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 Budget, a strategic investment in our students, staff, and schools. Guided by Elevate 2030, this budget reflects our unwavering commitment to fulfilling our vision by prioritizing student innovation, workforce investment, and operational efficiency.
This budget makes critical investments that directly support the dedicated teachers and staff who work with our students every day, reinforcing our commitment to excellence in education. The proposed budget includes a 6.5% overall average increase for teachers and certified grade 12 staff, a 6.2% overall average increase for classified support staff, and a 5.24% overall average increase for administrators.
Beyond salaries, this budget invests in the future of PWCS, and I invite you to review the FY 2027 Budget presentation. Together, we can fulfill our vision to see every student graduate on time with the knowledge, skills, and habits of mind necessary to create a thriving future for themselves and their community.
Across PWCS, Black History Month is being honored through meaningful learning experiences that celebrate the achievements, contributions, and lived experiences of African Americans. Classrooms and schools are engaging students through lessons, assemblies, performances, and student-led activities that encourage reflection, dialogue, and a deeper understanding of our shared history. These moments help connect the past to the present while affirming the voices and stories that continue to shape our community and nation. Be on the lookout for more stories of celebration across our division throughout the month.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Sincerely,

LaTanya D. McDade, Ed.D.
