Student-athletes with awards

USA Track and Field (USATF) Virginia recognized five athletes with ties to Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) during the USATF Virginia Awards Celebration, honoring the organization’s 2025 Athletes of the Year.

Gainesville High School’s Trent Daniels and Gar-Field High School’s Joshua-Kai Smith were named boys under-20 Athletes of the Year in the Youth Cross Country and Youth Track and Field categories, respectively. Both athletes are coming off recent state titles at the Virginia High School League Boys Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Asima Crawley-Howell, a graduate of C.D. Hylton High School, earned Athlete of the Year honors in the 17–18 age group. Reagan Anderson of Potomac Shores Middle School (11–12 age group) and Edward Wyrsch of Tyler Elementary School (9–10 age group) were also recognized for their outstanding performances in 2025 while competing with their track clubs.

"I'm so honored to receive this award,” said Wyrsch. “I just love to run. Running makes me happy, so I do it as often as I can. I'm excited to see what the future holds for me just doing what I love."
