Students who turn 5-years old by September 30 can enroll in kindergarten.
Kindergarten Registration Information
Parents/guardians must register their student online in ParentVUE. The online registration process is followed up with an in-person registration appointment. When registering a student for the upcoming school year, be sure to select the online registration packet in ParentVUE for the appropriate school year.
Parents whose student is currently enrolled in any PWCS preschool program do not need to complete the online kindergarten registration process. Instead, they should contact the registrar for the school where their student will attend kindergarten for the upcoming school year.
Once you have completed the online registration process, please contact your child's zoned school to schedule an in-person appointment.
After the registration process is completed, your student will attend an in-person screening assessment. The assessment is typically scheduled during the summer, a few weeks before the first day of school.
Did Your Child Attend A Private Accredited Kindergarten Program?
Your student may be eligible to enroll in first grade, regardless of age, if they completed an accredited kindergarten program accredited by the Virginia Council for Private Education (VCPE), National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), or equivalent.
Parents must provide evidence (report card or transcript) that indicates that the child has successfully completed the kindergarten program at an accredited non-public school.
