Students must submit a written request from a parent/guardian to go to another stop other than their regularly scheduled stop on their regularly scheduled bus or to ride an alternate bus. This written request is subject to the approval of the school principal (or designee) before entering the bus. Bus drivers must receive notification from the school office when approval is given to a student to change to an alternate stop or bus.
No change will be made in the location of bus stops or bus routing without approval by the Transportation Department. No change in the bus assigned may be made without the permission of the school principal and the Transportation Department.
Express bus information for Specialty Programs
Prince William County Public Schools offers express bus service for students attending Specialty Programs outside the attendance boundaries of their zoned school.
Parents/guardians indicate the preferred express bus stop for their student during the Specialty Program application process.
If your Specialty Program Coordinator has not contacted you by June regarding the express bus stops established for the following school year, you should contact the Specialty Program Coordinator.
Transportation for students experiencing homelessness
The McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act requires PWCS to provide additional transportation services and other supports for qualifying students who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence.
Bus transportation is provided for PWCS middle and high school students participating in after-school student activities such as clubs and athletics. Activity buses do not run every school day.
