Dear PWCS Families, Employees, and Community,
Throughout the first semester, students in grades 6-11 will take part in Student Insight Meetings, one-on-one conversations with school counselors about their strengths, interests, experiences, and goals. These meaningful conversations give students time to reflect on their progress, feel seen and supported, and take purposeful steps toward their future.
In preparation for Student Insight Meetings, I encourage families to use their child’s Student Vision Profile, which can be found in ParentVUE, to facilitate discussions about their strengths, aspirations, and goals. Please reach out to your school’s counselor for more information about Student Insight Meetings and Student Vision Profiles.
I also invite you to help shape the 2027-28 PWCS school calendar by completing the annual calendar survey by Friday, October 16. Your input is important and will help inform proposed calendar options before School Board review and expected approval in December. Please take a moment to learn more about the calendar options and development process and share your voice.
In support of our shared commitment to every student, the Impact Aid Program provides important federal funding for PWCS based on the number of students whose parents live or work on federal property. These funds help us continue providing high-quality educational opportunities for all students. Eligible families are encouraged to complete the Impact Aid Survey in ParentVUE so our schools can receive the full support available.
As we celebrate Custodial Appreciation Week, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the dedicated custodians who help keep our schools clean, safe, and welcoming every day. Their hard work, care, and commitment make a meaningful difference for students, employees, and families, and we are grateful for all they do.
Finally, please remember that there is no school for students on Monday, October 12, for a professional development day. We look forward to welcoming students back on Tuesday, October 13.
Sincerely,
LaTanya D. McDade, Ed.D.
