Dear PWCS Families, Employees, and Community,

Congratulations to Alyse Zeffiro, principal of Kerrydale Elementary School, who is this year's recipient of the National Distinguished Principal Award for Virginia. The award, given by the Virginia Association of Elementary School Principals, recognizes principals who "set high standards for instruction, student achievement, character, and a positive climate for the students, families, and staff in their learning communities." We are incredibly proud of her achievements and the dedication she has shown to our PWCS community.

I am excited to share that registration for PWCS Summer Programs is now open until May 23 for kindergarten through grade 8 and until June 6 for grades 9-12. PWCS offers both an academic recovery program and Discovery Enrichment Programs for students in grades K-8.

PWCS K-5 Summer School and 6-8 Summer School are academic programs designed to be an extension of the school year for reinforcement and recovery for elementary and middle school students. Families will be notified regarding the K-8 summer school programs by their school. Elementary and middle school programs are offered June 23-July 11.

PWCS also provides Discovery Enrichment Programs for various subjects, including mathematics, language arts, STEM, career and technical education, and fine and performing arts. Seats are limited, so please register early.

High school students can also take advantage of our many summer opportunities, including our credit recovery program from June 26-July 23. The program is designed to help those needing to repeat a course for credit and for current seniors who need to complete course requirements to graduate. High school students are encouraged to talk with their counselors now to see which summer option is right for them. Please review our summer programs website for details regarding each program, including registration deadlines.

Additionally, Virtual Prince William (VPW) offers a summer session for students to take courses for initial credit. VPW offers students the chance to take courses online to complete graduation requirements, recover credits, and balance academic and extracurricular opportunities. Please explore courses and opportunities as registration is open now through April 25.

PWCS is continuing our partnership with AlphaBEST Education as our summertime School Age Child Care (SACC) provider. AlphaBEST offers a Summer Excursions camp program. Registration is now open for Summer Camp 2025.

As a reminder, Spring Break for students and teachers is April 14-18, and Monday, April 21, is a Teacher Workday and non-attendance day for all students. Wishing you a joyful Easter season to all who celebrate.

Sincerely,
