Lexia Learning

English Learners access Lexia Learning programs through the PWCS Portal to help them build strong language and literacy skills through engaging, easy-to-use online activities. These programs adjust to each child's needs, giving them practice at just the right level.

Students work independently at their own pace, while teachers receive real-time information about their progress. This allows teachers to provide extra support exactly where it is needed.

Students in grades K-5 have access to the Lexia Core5 Reading program, where they can:

• Develop fundamental literacy skills in six areas of reading instruction that have been identified by national reading experts: phonological awareness, phonics, structural analysis, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension;
• Receive scaffolding, corrective feedback, and direct instruction in Core 5 when needed; and
• Have their teacher monitor his or her progress and performance in the online activities through data reports. These reports help teachers to determine if a student is struggling with a specific skill and requires targeted, teacher-led instruction.

Students in grades K-6 at WIDA levels 1 and 2 have access to the Lexia English Language Development program, where they can:

• Develop students' listening and speaking skills;
• Compliments ELD instructional time - integrated within the ELD curriculum.

Students in grades 6-12 have access to Lexia Power Up, where they can:

• Build on the English language arts classroom curriculum, focusing on developing skills in three areas essential to becoming a proficient reader: Word Study, Grammar, and Comprehension; and
• Have their teacher provide help when needed based on student progress and performance.

The Lexia Help Center and Lexia Learning website are also available to provide additional information to families.
