The United States Department of the Navy presented Marine Corps Sgt. and Potomac High School alumnus, Issiaah Green, with a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for his work with Marine Aircraft Group (MAG) 12. Green is a data systems administrator with MAG-12 and received this award for impacting unit readiness by broadening the unit’s secret communication capabilities, establishing secured networks between the U.S and Japan, and activating the use of logistic chain systems in deployed environments.

Green attributes his success to his years attending Potomac High, where he was involved in multiple sports like football, swimming, and wrestling. Being physically active and competitive in high school carried over into his time with the Marine Corps. The biggest influence in Green’s decision to join the Marines was Rodney Harris, a teacher at Potomac High. Harris had been in the Marines himself and retired as a master gunnery sergeant.

Other members of MAG-12 admire Green due to his willingness to learn new things and his open mindedness, as those are important traits to have in deployed environments. They describe Green as someone with a diligent attitude who enjoys seeking new challenges. 

Green continues to sharpen his skills and further his career by teaching other Marines and attending advanced professional military education courses.
