2024 Summer Program Registration Dates

  • Elementary School: April 9-May 24, 2024
  • Middle School: April 9-May 24, 2024
  • High School: April 9-May 31, 2024
  • Discovery Enrichment: April 9-May 24, 2024

Additional information about registration will be added before the registration window opens. High school courses are for students that need to recover credit. Elementary and middle school students recommended for summer school will be notified by their school in March.

PWCS Summer Programs

Prince William County Public Schools offers both an academic recovery/support summer school program and an enrichment (Discovery) program for students in grades kindergarten through 12. Summer program courses are only for current Prince William County Public School students.

Summer school offerings are for students needing additional academic support and remediation to prepare for the upcoming school year. Students are recommended for the summer school program by their current teachers or counselors. You will be notified by your student's school in March if they have been identified to participate in this program. Summer school offerings are tuition-free for identified students. Registration for summer school programs is completed in ParentVUE.

Discovery enrichment offerings allow students to explore interests and strengthen skills. Dates and times vary. Discovery programs have tuition costs. Registration for Discovery programs is completed through Student Quick Pay.

Transportation service is provided for all summer offerings. *Bus stops will be different from regular school-year bus stops.

Which summer program is right for my student?

K-5 Summer School (Elementary)

Three-Week Program
June 24-July 12, 2024
Monday-Friday
9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
No school on July 4 and 5

This program is an extension of the school year and helps support students to develop skills to prepare them to be successful going into the next school year. The program provides reading and mathematics support.

Students will be recommended for the K-5 summer school program by their current teachers or school counselors.

6-8 Summer School (Middle)

Three-Week Program
June 24-July 12, 2024
Monday-Friday
7:45-11:30 a.m.
No school on July 4 and 5

This program is an extension of the school year and helps support students to develop skills to prepare them to be successful going into the next school year. The program provides reading and mathematics support.

Students will be recommended for the 6-8 summer school program by their current teachers or school counselors.

High School Summer School and Grad Academy

Six-Week Program
June 20 - July 26, 2024
Monday-Friday
7:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
No school on July 4 and 5

Students in grades 9-12 that have previously failed a course, can take advantage of the summer offering of courses to support on-time graduation.

9-12 Summer school is for current high school students who have failed a course. Students in grades 9-12 may take one high school course for repeat (recovery) credit at no cost.

Grad Academy is for seniors who are not on track to graduate in June but can graduate in July with additional targeted support. Grad Academy participants can earn up to two credits to satisfy diploma requirements and graduate this summer.

*There are additional summer options for high school students in need of SOL remediation and testing.

High school students should talk with their school counselor about which of the above options is right for them.

K-12 Discovery Enrichment Programs

Students in elementary, middle, and high school looking to discover their passions and explore new learning experiences will want to enroll in a Discovery program. Programs will be offered between July 15-26. Dates and times for Discovery programs vary but typically run for one week. Students can enroll in one Discovery program. 2024 course offerings will be posted in March. *There is a tuition cost for all Discovery programs.
