Student Activities & Athletics
Student participation in extracurricular activities and athletics provides opportunities for students to develop essential life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and time management, which are valuable beyond the classroom. Additionally, participation in these activities promotes physical health, mental well-being, and a sense of belonging, contributing to a more positive and engaging school experience.
Eligibility and Participation Information
The activities and athletics guidelines offer middle and high school students, along with their parents or guardians, essential information about student eligibility, participation requirements, and expected conduct when engaging in PWCS activities and athletic programs.
Student Activities
Student activities are available at all PWCS middle and high schools, offering students a range of opportunities to engage in various activities. These include school-sponsored clubs, groups, or organizations, and activities governed by the Virginia High School League (VHSL). The availability and variety of these activities are determined by student interest and participation levels.
Middle School Athletics
PWCS middle schools offer the following sports: baseball, basketball, cheerleading, football, soccer, softball, track, volleyball, and wrestling. Please note that every middle school may not have a team for each sport, as the availability of sports teams depends on the demand and participation from the student body.
To learn more about athletic opportunities at a PWCS middle school, visit the school's athletics webpage.

Student-Athlete Education
Student-athlete education (formally known as concussion education) educates student-athletes and their parents/guardians about topics related to the health of student-athletes.
Virginia law requires each student-athlete and their parent/guardian to review the information shared in the student-athlete education and sign a statement acknowledging receipt of the information in order to participate in any athletic activity.
