PWCS Family Engagement Series
The Family Engagement Series provides families with resources that will assist with their student’s success. The series is led by the Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Compliance Department, in collaboration with other PWCS programs, and community and business partners.
Focus: Academic & Career Planning for Secondary Students
Target Audience: Families of secondary students
6 p.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2023 – Live Virtual Session
Join us on Thursday, September 28, 2023, to learn about Naviance and the resources available to all students. Families will learn about the school counseling college and career readiness curriculum delivered to middle and high school students through Naviance. This process is captured in the Academic Career Plan which includes college, career, and post-high school planning. Students continue this process each school year.

Join us on Monday, October 9, 2023, for a session that will focus on what specialty programs are available at the elementary school level. We will review the program offerings and discuss the application process, including deadlines. We will also discuss transportation options for students attending specialty programs.

We will also discuss transportation options for students attending specialty programs and high school athletics and activities considerations.

Focus: PWCS Social Emotional Learning Overview
Target Audience: All PWCS families
6-7 p.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2023 – Live Virtual Session
Join us for a session that will focus on introducing families and caregivers to Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and its five competencies. These competencies include self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making skills. Engaging families in SEL can strengthen the home-school partnership and support students' emotional well-being and academic success.
