PWCS Family Engagement Series

The Family Engagement Series provides families with resources that will assist with their student’s success. The series is led by the Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Compliance Department, in collaboration with other PWCS programs, and community and business partners.

Focus: Mathematics Curriculum Highlights for Elementary Students

Target Audience: Families of elementary students

6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 – Live Virtual Session

Join us on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, for a session that will focus on what number sense looks like in a math class, how students are expected to think and respond, and provide websites and specific examples for families to conduct number sense routines at home.

Focus: Academic & Career Planning for Elementary Students

Target Audience: Families of elementary students

6 p.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2023 – Live Virtual Session

Join us on Thursday, September 21, 2023, to learn about the VA Wizard resource available to all elementary students. Families will learn about the school counseling college and career readiness curriculum delivered to elementary students within VA Wizard. Career awareness and exploration start early with the creation of the Academic Career Plan Portfolio. Students identify personal interests, skills, and values while planning future goals.

Focus: Academic & Career Planning for Secondary Students

Target Audience: Families of secondary students

6 p.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2023 – Live Virtual Session

Join us on Thursday, September 28, 2023, to learn about Naviance and the resources available to all students. Families will learn about the school counseling college and career readiness curriculum delivered to middle and high school students through Naviance. This process is captured in the Academic Career Plan which includes college, career, and post-high school planning. Students continue this process each school year.
