PWCS Family Engagement Series

The Family Engagement Series provides families with resources that will assist with their student’s success. The series is led by the Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Compliance Department, in collaboration with other PWCS programs, and community and business partners.

Focus: Nontraditional Programs at a Glance

Target Audience: Families of middle and high school students

6-7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 – Live Virtual Session

Join us on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, for a session that will focus on information on the nontraditional programs in PWCS including the Evening School program, the ISAEP 16/17 GED Program which leads to a GED, and the STAR program, an evening online tutoring and remediation program in the subjects of English and mathematics for grades 6-12.

Focus: Gifted at a Glance

Target Audience: All

6-7 p.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2023 – Live Virtual Session

Join us on Thursday, December 7, 2023, for a session that will focus on learning more about the services available to students in grades K-12 through the Gifted Education and Talent Development program. In this session, we will discuss what it means to be "gifted," how students are identified for the program, and ways parents can support their advanced learners at home. Come with any questions you may have about the gifted program or the identification process.

Focus: PWCS Office of the Ombudsman

Target Audience: All

6-7 p.m. on Monday, December 11, 2023 – Live Virtual Session

Join us on Monday, December 11, 2023, for a session that will focus on the Office of the Ombudsman. The Office of the Ombudsman provides parents, students, and members of the school community a confidential, impartial, and informal place where they can seek assistance in navigating concerns, conflicts, and issues arising within PWCS. The people who visit the Ombudsman's office may do so for many reasons. The office seeks to empower these individuals to overcome their disputes, conflicts, and barriers by helping them find options for the best possible resolutions.

Families will learn about CTE program areas and courses available to middle and high school students. This will also be an opportunity to learn about work-based learning experiences and upcoming events.
