The series is led by the Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) Community Outreach, Business Partnerships and Philanthropy Department, in collaboration with other PWCS programs, and community and business partners.

Focus: Knowledge is Power, Attend Every Hour - The Importance of School Attendance

Join us on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, for a webinar where students and families will learn about Prince William County Public Schools’ attendance regulations and processes, the impact of missed days, and efforts to increase attendance across the division. We will share how we can partner with families to improve attendance and student outcomes.

An overview of the main elements of the law will be provided and specific changes you will notice this year in literacy instruction and the updated Virginia Language and Literacy Screening System (VALLSS) for students in kindergarten - grade 3.

The latest insights on suicide prevention, including current research and strategies will be covered. Students and families will learn to recognize warning signs and behaviors, initiate supportive conversations, and access crucial resources for themselves or others in crisis.

Focus: Support for Military-Connected Families – Navigating the Special Education Journey
