PWCS students checking in for AWS Girls' Tech Day

The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Girls’ Tech Day brought more than 600 middle school students from across Northern Virginia together recently at the Hylton Performing Arts Center, over 100 of those students were from Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS).

The event was designed to promote and encourage students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math, or STEAM. The day was comprised of panel discussions and STEAM-related interactive activities that included drones, coding, cloud-based system lessons, and more.

PWCS students were provided free transportation through a partnership between AWS, SPARK the education foundation for Prince William County Public Schools, and the PWCS Transportation Department. SPARK wishes to extend thanks to the PWCS teachers who chaperoned and Transportation staff for making this event possible for PWCS students.
