Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) is proud to announce PWCS graduate, Cadet Fahad Abdulrazzaq, has been named a 2024 Rhodes Scholar. The Rhodes Trust Office of the American Secretary announced the 32 U.S. Rhodes Scholarship awardees on Saturday, November 11.

Fahad was born in Baghdad, Iraq in 2001 and lived there during the war. His father was an interpreter for the U.S. Army and moved Fahad and his family to the U.S. soon after. They settled in Woodbridge, VA, where he attended school and later graduated from Woodbridge High School in 2019.

Fahad is now a senior at West Point U.S. Military Academy, where he majors in the international affairs/cyber engineering sequence. He's a Stamps Scholar, Yale/USMA Peace and Dialogue Leadership Initiative Fellow, and served as a Pentagon intern in the Joint Chiefs of Staff Office. He currently serves as a Regimental Commander, directing a 30-person staff and overseeing 1,100 other cadets. He's also a squad leader and an accomplished boxer for West Point's national championship boxing team. Next fall, Fahad will pursue a Master of Science degree in refugee and forced migration studies at the University of Oxford.

"Fahad has truly launched a thriving future for himself since graduation day, going on to study international affairs at West Point U.S. Military Academy. The Rhodes Scholarship is the most prestigious postgraduate award given to university students from around the world. As part of this honor, Fahad will attend the University of Oxford with a full scholarship next fall. Our community should be very proud of his military service to the country and this tremendous accomplishment. He represents the best of Prince William County Public Schools, and he embodies the profile of our graduates."

The Rhodes Scholarship is a fully funded, full-time, postgraduate award that allows young people worldwide to study at the University of Oxford. It's the oldest international scholarship program, with the first scholarship awarded in 1902.
