Congratulations to the team from Gravely Elementary School, who emerged victorious as the 2024 Battle of the Books champions. They answered every question correctly during this final battle.

The final standings for the Battle of the Books 2024 were as follows:

  • 1st Place: Gravely Elementary School
  • 2nd Place: Tyler Elementary School
  • 3rd Place: Antietam Elementary School

The Battle of the Books is a program designed to foster a love for reading and enhance comprehension skills. The competition revolves around a core reading list of 10 books, handed out to rising fourth and fifth-grade students before the conclusion of each school year. As the new school year starts, teams start their meetings, delving into the heart of each story, discussing key elements such as setting, character, plot, conflict, and theme. The students’ understanding of these elements and their association with the respective books is then put to the test.
